“The Church's great liturgical tradition teaches us that fruitful participation in the liturgy requires that one be personally conformed to the mystery being celebrated… Otherwise, however carefully planned and executed our liturgies may be, they would risk falling into a certain ritualism. Hence the need to provide an education in eucharistic faith capable of enabling the faithful to live personally what they celebrate.” (Pope Benedict XVI, SACRAMENTUM CARITATIS, 64)

I'm Speechless

I read this article today, and I can't help but to post it. I mean, it simply blows my mind. This guy almost won a pulitzer prize once.
Abortion is murder. In my view women have--and ought to continue to have--the right to murder their unborn babies. Each abortion is a tragedy, some necessary and others not, and all of them are murder. It's not a position that I'm comfortable with. But as sad and horrible as abortion is, I can't see telling a woman who doesn't want to carry a pregnancy to term that she has to do so.
I'd love comments, because I can't comment on the article on that site. And I'm having trouble processing it.

  1. Perhaps this person needs to hear the story of someone who made that horrible choice and the trauma, guilt and shame that inevitably follows. I'd have no problem telling him mine!
He's in favor of selective murder? It's OK in the womb, just not outside it?
The only charitable thing I can do is pray!

  2. Ted Rall is one sick individual - that was very apparent before he wrote on abortion. One thing he does, though, is admit something that "pro-choice" people refuse to do. Abortion is murder. The "pro-choice" community has re-defined the language with the full cooperation of the media in order to de-humanize the unborn child. Those folks can't be happy with Ted Rall today.

Unplanned pregnancy is a very difficult problem. Dehumanizing the baby makes this problem a lot easier to deal with. But when you're not dealing in truth, you really aren't helping anyone. At least Rall sees through the lie that unborn babies aren't human. Now I wonder how he can't acknowledge their unalienable right to life? That seems to undermine his lunatic assault on President Bush for the last seven years.
